“There is something in the woods.” – Excerpt From A Dark Fantasy Novel

Just like last month, I’m sharing a small snippet from my monthly writings. Last time I shared the opening page of my dark fantasy novel, quite possibly the most important part of any book, so make sure to check that out if you haven’t already.

Let me tell you, Feburary was an extremely productive writing month for me. If you recall, my monthly writing goal was to write at least 10,000 words in four ‘sets’ – i.e, 4 completed works. I aimed to do this via:

  • 2 chapters of an original novel
  • 2 other works.

Last month, I completed a whopping nine pieces of work! This included a chapter of my dark fantasy novel, and two chapters of a brand new original work. This doesn’t include my weekly blog posts, which I did on top of all that! Phew! My hands are sore. But I’m also incredibly buzzed!

Anyway, let me tell you about this little excerpt I’m sharing. The obvious choice would have been to continue where I left off in my last monthly update… but I’m not going to do that.

Oh don’t huff. You’ll get sample chapters one day. And a whole book.

Instead, I’ve scoured through what I’ve written this month for a special passage to share with you. I chose this passage because I think it highlights something unique about the dark fantasy book I’ve been working on. The protagonist, Grace, is a single mother by choice and conceived her child via IVF treatment. While this isn’t a major plot point, it is a decision that reflects her independence and isolation, which are important aspects to her character.

I hope you enjoy.

Please leave any feedback in the comments and be sure to leave a like to let me know if you want to see more. If you want to read a completed work, I have several short stories available for free.
