Ever since I posted about my 2023 writing goals, I’ve wanted to do some kind of accountability series – a monthly update where I share what I’m working on, in the hopes that I’ll stick to my writing goals.
At first, I wasn’t sure how to do this. I didn’t want to post full chapters online because that can lead to problems if I decided to go down the traditional publishing route – i.e. some publishers won’t accept works that have been published elsewhere, even online. That said, I also didn’t want to leave you with nothing, so I thought I’d share a small excerpt/quote from last month’s writing.
Then, of course, came the matter of deciding what moment to share. I soon came up with an answer.
Flogging The Quill has a fantastic series called the flogmeter, where aspiring authors and published authors submit their first pages for review. It made sense, then, that the first of my update series should be the opening of my book:
…annnnddd that’s all you get.
I know. I’m a tease. Let me know what you think or if you want a bit of a longer snippet next time. I’m pleased to say I achieved my writing goals for January. Let’s hope Feburary will be just as good!
