Oh boy! What a month! August was dubbed my personal NaNoWriMo this year, otherwise known as the MOST PRODUCTIVE MONTH EVAH – at least, in theory.
This Month’s Word Count: 11,145
Scenes Complete: 2
I gave myself the goal of 1000 words a day or one scene per week. Initially, I wanted to have four scenes done by month’s end. I have a scene list that I’m gradually working through and to have four struck out in lovely highlighter pink would have looked pretty good. Still, half ain’t bad.
This is the first time I’ve bothered counting my words and it was both encouraging and frustrating. Some days, it was good to have a word count and say to myself ‘just a few more words, come on!’ and others it was a ‘that’s too much, go away, good night, I’m out!’ I’ll be sticking with it, firstly for comparison’s sake, and second, to remind myself on the tough days that yes I have made progress, despite how it looks.
September will be a busy month for me. I’m moving out for Uni, and have assignments that I want to get done – between all the boozing and partying, of course! 😉 Still, I’ll try to get a little work done on my WIP, whether that be writing or editing the scenes I’ve already written. In for a penny, in for a pound. I’m not giving up.
